BUDAY – Michael Joseph Buday passed away on March 19, 1985 in Teslin Lake, B.C. at the age of 27. He was born in Brooks on July 15, 1957 and raised on a family farm in the Tilley district. He received his education at Tilley School and graduated in 1975. He enlisted with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in October 1976, receiving his training in Regina, Saskatchewan. He was first posted at Fort Nelson, B.C. for eight months, two years at Prince George, then moved to Terrace in 1979, residing there since. He completed his dog master training in Innisfail in 1983 and was a member of the emergency response team. Surviving are his parents, Frank and Margaret Buday of Tilley, two brothers, Frank and his wife Cindy and son Willi of Tilley, and Bob of Coronation; one sister Janet of Tilley; and his fiancee, Donna Lehouillier of Terrace, B.C.; also numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Prayer services were held on Sunday evening at 7:30 p.m. at St. Jude’s Catholic Church in Tilley with funeral services on Monday, March 25 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father Jim Lynn officiating. Interment followed in the Brooks Cemetery. Pallbearers were Corporal Ron Flack of Coultenay Detachment, Constable Len Nolan of Sooke Detachment, Constable Gary Rodgers of Terrace Detachment, Constable Greg Chiarot of Terrace Detachment, Constable Andy Latham of Fort St. John Detachment and Constable Douglas Leshures of Prince George Detachment. If friends desire memorial donations may be made to Steve Fonyo Journey For Lives. Smith Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
