BUNN – A resident of the Brooks district for most of his life, Leon Rex Bunn died at this residence in Wardlow on Oct. 21, 1977 at the age of 53.
Born in Foremost, he moved to the One Tree area as an infant and attended the Duke of Sutherland School; he moved to Calgary in 1935 and finished his schooling there.
He joined the RCAF in 1940 as an air gunner and completed 49 missions in Europe during World War Two. He was discharged in 1944 and returned to Calgary.
Lee Bunn started in the oil industry in 1951, living at Edmonton and Drayton Valley before settling at Wardlow in 1958 where he was employed with Placer CEGO Petroleum as a field operator. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion at Brooks.
He was predeceased by his sister, Lois Jones, in 1960 and his father Harry in 1961.
Surviving are his wife, Verna of Wardlow; a son Harrie. also of Wardlow; his mother, Mrs. Hattie Bunn of Calgary; a sister, Mrs. Pat Gibsen of Calgary and a brother, George, of Brooks.
Funeral service was held Monday, Oct. 24 at two o’clock in Smith Memorial Chapel, Brooks with Bishop Douglas Hutchinson officiating and interment followed in Brooks Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Bill Rooke, Doug Ferguson, Bob Bradford, Mary Kenny, Lorne Wallace and Lee Beasley.
