Bunney, Wendell Claude

BUNNEY – Wendell Claude Bunney of Brooks, Alberta died on February 18, 1993 at the age of 74 years.

He was born at Chillmark, Alberta on .May 8,1918 and moved to the One Tree district in 1937 to homestead on land purchased from the CPR.

He married Lois Clarke on October 12, 1949 in Brooks. He retired from active farming to Brooks in 1967 and continued employment with Shell Bulk until 1979.

He was a member of the EID Legion and served in the militia, was active in Prairie Pioneers and an avid bingo and card player.

He was predeceased by his parents, John E. and Ada Bunney; a brother Reg and a sister Monica Thompson.

He will be sadly missed by his loving wife Lois of Brooks; children Wayne (Janice) of Duchess, Brenda (Pat) Scherger of Brooks and Lome (Mayumi) of Brooks; two granddaughters; five grandsons; three brothers, Roy Bunney of Brooks, Denzil (Margaret) Bunney of Calgary and Austin (Hilda) Bunney of Brooks; two sisters, Gwen Senecal of Brooks and Agnes Iverson of Calgary and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral service was held on Monday, February 22 at 2 p.m. in Brooks United Church with the Reverend David Robertson officiating. Interment followed in Brooks Cemetery.

Honorary pallbearers were Mike and Mary Osadczuk, Starks and Margaret Chudleigh, Rusty and Ramona Koch and Arthur Stephens. Active pallbearers were Greg Bunn, Aza Senecal, Bryan Bunney, David Bunney,  Daryrl Bunney,  and Willis Spencer.

If friends desire memorial donations may be made to the Brooks Health Centre Memorial Fund for the purchase of a Palliative Care Bed.

Smith Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
