Byers, Albert Merle

BYERS – Albert Merle Byers of Patricia, Alberta died in the Brooks Health Centre on May 23, 1987 at the age of 67 years.

He was born at Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, was raised and received his schooling at Nut Mountain, Saskatchewan.

He farmed until joining the army in the Second World War and returned home in 1948 and worked as a farm labourer and as a carpenter’s assistant until 1965 when he retired due to ill health.

He married Yvonne Braconier in 1960.

He moved to the Patricia area in 1968 where he has resided since.

He was predeceased by a son Daryll in 1961, his father in 1950 and his mother in 1968.

Surviving are his wife Yvonne, five daughters, Ruth Byers of’ Bow Island, Patricia (Kin) Richardson, Edith Hodgins of Brooks, Helen Byers of Patricia, Rosemary Byers of Brooks, four sons, Merle of Jenner, Doug, Ed and Burt of Patricia, three grandchildren, two sisters, Margaret Ferall of Vancouver and Adel and her husband Jim Moffit of New Westminister, B.C. and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 28 at 2 p.rn. in Brooks United Church with Reverend Yoline Conley officiating. Interment will follow in the Brooks Cemetery.

Fraternal service conducted by and honorary pallbearers are members of the E.I.D. Branch, Royal Canadian Legion. Active pallbearers are John Baran, Gene Westwick, Brad Deschamps, Don Musgrove, John Braconier and Danny Bailly.

If friends desire memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
