CAGE – Eugene Earl (Bud) Cage of Calgary, Alberta died on August 12, 1983 in the Calgary General Hospital at the age of 58 years. He was born at Rio Grande, Alberta near Beaverlodge and resided on the farm with his family until moving to Montreal in 1940. He began his career with the Canadian National Railway in Montreal and also served in the Canadian Navy. Following his discharge he returned to work for the CNR for 40 years at Edmonton, Hanna and in the Calgary district and was presently employed by the Canadian Commission in Calgary. While in Edmonton he met and married the former Mae Dunn. He was predeceased by a daughter and two brothers. Surviving are his wife, Mae of Calgary; one son, Rob Cage of Duchess; five daughters, Mrs. Wayne (Brenda) Finnerty of Duchess, Mrs. John (Diane) Reiss of Brooks, Chris and Debbie Cage of Brooks and Tammie Cage of Calgary; five grandchildren; his parents, Earl and Alice Cage of Nanaimo, B.C., one brother Dick Cage of Chetwynd, B.C., a sister, Marilyn Pearsall of Nanaimo, B.C. and a very dear friend and cousin, Don Kinsmen of Bentley, Alberta. Funeral service was held on Tuesday, August 16 at 2:00, p.m. in Brooks United Church with the Reverend James Hamilton officiating.
Interment followed in the Brooks Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Ike Sunstrum, Ray Anderson, John Annas, Tony Pingatore, Wayne Chapman and Shorty Suitor.
