CAMPBELL – Alma Campbell (formerly Cyr) passed away August 10, 1997 in the Brooks Health Centre at the age of 77 years.
Alma was born April 8, 1920 in Lawsonberg, Alberta to Emmanuel Bannick and Christina Baes (both born near Odessa, Russia) and spent her life in the Hand Hills and Brooks areas. Alma spent many years doing commercial cleaning for such places as the Brooks Hotel, Royal Bank and Tel Star Motel. She was a member of the Elks for five to six years, the Royal Canadian Legion for 13 years and Order of the Eastern Star, Helen Chapter #91, for 10 years. Alma will be fondly remembered for her generous, giving nature, her love of cats, and her fear of electrical storms.
She was predeceased by her husband Albert Cyr on October 5th, 1976 and Rodrick Campbell on August 10th, 1991; a granddaughter Sherri Bell; brothers Leonard, Bert, Ben, Edwin, Arthur and David Bannick and sisters Rihle Hanna and Frieda Grunsky.
She is survived by her two sons Henry (Jim) Cyr and his wife Carol of Brooks and Garry Cyr and his wife Betty of Mission, B.C.; step-daughter Sharon (Lance) Senuck of Fort McMurray; step-son Rod (Jill) Campbell of Calgary; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two brothers Martin (Joan) and Herb (Gloria) Bannick; three sisters Edith (Clifford) Flater, Leah (Gordon) Needham and Irene (Wes) Cook.
Funeral services will be on Friday, August 15th at 2:00 p.m. from Smith’s Memorial Chapel, Brooks. Rev. John Theiss officiating. Inurnment to follow at Brooks Cemetery.
