CANN – Edith Marie Cann died in the Calgary General Hospital on May 23, 1986 at the age of 80 years.
She was born at Upsola, Minnesota, U.S.A. on November 8, 1905 and came to Brooks in 1923. She married at the First Lutheran Church in Calgary on July 8, 1925.
They moved to Carseland and farmed there until returning to Brooks in 1939 and farmed with the her husband in the district. She was employed with the Betty Shop in Brooks from 1944 until retiring as manageress in 1981 at the age of 75 years.
She was a member of the Brooks United Church and was very active in the church as organist, with the choir, Sunday School, U.C.W. and W.M.S. and was organist for Smith Funeral Home for many years.
She was predeceased by her husband, Jack, on March 19, 1985.
Surviving are two daughters, Greta and her husband, Dwayne Roth, of Camrose; Ellen and her husband, Ken Forbes, of Medicine Hat; two sons, Paul and his wife, Joyce, of Lethbridge; and John Jr. of Campbell River, B.C.; 10 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, two sisters, Florence of Little Falls, Minnesota and Ellen of Minneapolis and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 28 (today) at 2 p.m. in Brooks United Church with the Reverend Yoline Conley officiating. Interment will follow in the Brooks Cemetery. .
Pallbearers are Fred Teare, Allan Axelson, Kermith Anderson, John Ledene, Bob Baxter and John De Raaf.
If friends desire, memorial donations may be made to the Brooks United Church Memorial Fund or the Cleft Palate Association.
