Carstairs – Born in Sedgley, England and a long time resident of Rolling Hills, Elizabeth Carstairs died in Brooks General Hospital on April 21, 1977 at the age of 77.
She was the oldest of 14 children whose family came to Gliddon, Saskatchewan in 1928. She married at Etonia, Sask. in 1930 where they farmed until 1940 when they moved to the Rolling Hills district where they resided since.
She was predeceased by her parents, three brothers and one sister and is survived by her husband Fred of Rolling Hills, son Jack of St. Albert, Alberta; a daughter, Mrs. Leonard (Mary) Goodheart of Rolling Hills and seven grandchildren.
Three brothers, Jack Page of Peterborough, Ont. Ron of North Vancouver, B.C., Albert of Saskatoon; six sisters, Mrs. Winifred Dearing of Peterborough, Mrs. Irene Whyte of Dauphin, Man., Mrs. Lillian Robertson of Winnipeg, Man., Mrs. Joyce Sladek of Calgary, Mrs. Gladys Nelson of Winnipeg and Mrs. Vi Howson of Vancouver Island. Service was held Monday, April 25 at 1:30 p.m. at St. Alban’s Anglican Church with Rev. C.E. Mortimer officiating. Interment in the Brooks Cemetery followed. Pallbearers were Bob Daniels, Marv Miller, Fred Carratt, George Larsen, Erling Nygaard and Bill Sinclair.
Arrangements were made by Smiths Funeral Home of Brooks and Bassano.
