Joseph (Joe) Hubert Cartier of Brooks, Alberta died suddenly on December 29, 1979 at the age of 41 years.
He was born in Quebec and attended school there and moved to Renfrew, Ontario in 1952. He came to Red Deer, Alberta in 1960 and to Edmonton and Calgary before moving to Brooks in 1969 where he has resided since.
He operated his own welding business for eight years and has been employed by Kerr’s Oilfield Coating Consultants as a pipe line inspector. He was recently appointed vice-president of the company.
He was predeceased by his parents and is survived by his wife, Helen of Brooks; one daughter, Tammy and a son, Tim both of Brooks; six sisters, Mrs. Gerraldine Newton of Shawville, Quebec, Mrs. Ernestine Bovair, Mrs. Albertine Kingsberry, Mrs. Mary Doherty and Mrs. Rose Bellanger, all of Red Deer. Mrs. Doreen Logan of Renfrew, Ontario; two brothers, Andrew Cartier of Brooks and Ernest Cartier of Sault St. Marie, Ontario.
Prayer service was held on Tuesday, January 1 at 7:00 p.m. in Smith Memorial Chapel and funeral service was held in St. Mary’s Catholic Church on Wednesday, January 2 (today) 10:00 a.m. with the Rev. F.R. Mongeau officiating. Interment followed in the Brooks Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jim Webber, Mike Rosypal, Don Jano, Jim Karasek, Freeman Vessey and Nelson Lintott.
