CHAREST – Alfred Joseph Charest of Brooks, Alberta died in the Brooks Health Centre on November 9,1991 at the age of 83 years.
He was born at Tingwick, Quebec on July 24, 1908 and moved to Saskatchewan at the age of four years.
On May 31, 1937 he married Corona Gobeit and moved to Alberta as a young man residing here most of his life.
He will be sadly missed by his wife Corona, his four children, Philip (Mary Lou) of Brooks, Margaret of Brooks, Roger (Linda) of Calgary, Evelyn (Clarence) Charchuk of Calgary, 18 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, one brother, Eugene (Rita) Charest of St. Albert and a sister, Alice Gobeil of Quebec.
Funeral service was held on Tuesday, November 12 at 10 a.m. in St. Mary’s Catholic Church with the Reverend Keith Sorge officiating. Interment followed in the Brooks Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers were Charlie Carratt, Clarence and Halvar Rosdal, Harold Holeha, Pete Wallace, Dave Armstrong and Joe Dumontel.
Pallbearers were grandsons, Richard Charest, Brendan Charest, Morgan Moyer, Perry Charest, Wayne Charchuk and Kevin Charest.
Smith Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
