He was born at Tinwick, Quebec on March 19, 1905 and moved with his family to Kerrobert, Saskatchewan at the age of seven years then for a time lived at Ravenscrag, Sask.
He married Laurencia Marie Lesperance on October 25, 1936 and farmed at Dollard, Saskatchewan for 11 years. They moved to Rolling Hills, Alberta in November 1947 and farmed for 9 years before buying the Central Sales and Service Garage and Esso Bulk Station which he operated until retiring in 1974.
He was predeceased by his first wife Laurie in August, 1975 and married Isobel Delaney in September 1976.
Surviving are his wife Isobel, six children Helen (Joe) Kam of Brooks, Ida Stephens of Brooks, Omer (Bev) Charest of Brooks, Gladys (Richard) Harty of Etzikom, Valerie (Monfred) Haag of Rainier and Pauline (Henry) Holst of Vauxhall, 17 grandchildren, seven greatgrandchildren, two brothers, Alfred (Corona) Charest of Brooks and Eugiene (Rita) Charest of Wetaskiwin, a sister Alice Gobiel of Val D’or, Quebec.
Funeral service will be held on Friday, November 9 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Brooks with the Reverend Keith Sorge and the Reverend Fred Monk officiating. Interment will follow in the Brooks Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers are Albert Lester, Halvar Rosdal, Syl Hemsing, Ron Hoffman, Gus Baumann and Marinus Smit. Active pallbearers are Charlie Carratt, Ken Green, Richard Harty, Monfred Haag, Henry Holst and Joe Kam.
