CHIKOWSKI – Gerald (Jerry) Lloyd Chikowski of Brooks, Alberta died on May 9, 1992 at the age of 44 years.
He was born at Brooks and received his schooling in Rainier, Scandia and Brooks. He spent most of his life in the oil patch in Alberta, the U.S., mainly in Texas and was involved in off-shore drilling at Sable Island in the North Sea. He was also part owner of Gold West Fishing Tools Ltd. for several years and more recently was involved in custom woodworking.
Jerry was active in hockey in his younger days playing with the Brooks Blackhawks and also enjoyed baseball.
Surviving are his daughters, Marlene and Charlene and grandson Christopher, all of Chico, California, his parents, Steve and Lettia of Brooks; three sisters, Mary Lou (Toby) Jones of Gordondale, Alberta. Joyce (Bob) Helem of Nanaimo, B.C., Eleanor (Ken) McLeod of Blackfalds, Ab., a brother, Fred (Lorraine) of High River, Ab., 14 nieces and nephews, seven great-nieces and nephews and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 13 (today) at 2 p.m. in Trinity Lutheran Church with the Reverend Ken Grambo officiating. Interment will follow in the Brooks Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers are Carl Fortin, Steve Kelly, Ken McLeod, Cal Coverly, Dennis Borgstrom, Clark Humphreys, Ted Tschetter, Guy Genovese, Tony Genovese, Lonnie Glass and Arnold Roth. Active pallbearers are Jim Fairhurst, Brad Chikowski, Stephen Chikowski, Tyler Chikowski, Norm Chelte and Rob Hryn.
