Chudleigh, Rufus & Stella

CHUDLEIGH – Mrs. Stella Chudleigh, beloved wife of Rufus Chudleigh of Brooks, passed away in Brooks on September 17th, 1993 at the age of 69 years.

She was born at Slough, Buckingham County, England and married at East Grinstead as a war bride on May 9th, 1945. She came to Canada in 1946 landing at Halifax and came west by train to the Duchess District where they farmed until retiring to Brooks in 1986. She had been employed  as Secretary of the Duchess School District from 1966 until the late 1970s. Stella served as organist at the Duchess United Church for many years and was assistant organist at the Brooks United Church. She was a  member of the UCW, War Brides Association and the Birthday club.

Stella is also survived by her loving children, Mary Lindstedt and Kel Hollins of Lethbridge and granddaughter Deborah and her husband Troy Clark and granddaughter Tina Lindstedt all of Calgary, Adrian Chudleigh and his wife Catherine and grand-children Matthew and Michelle all of Airdrie;  her sister Valerie Major of East Grinstead, England; and her nephews and their families.

Services will be held at Brooks United Church on Wednesday, September 22 (to-day) at 2 p.m. with the Reverend Susan Lukey and Reverend David Robertson officiating. Family inurnment services will follow in the Brooks Cemetery.
