COGLAND – Victor Dennis Cogland died in the Brooks Health Centre on June 1, 1982 at the age of 97 years. He was born at Bath, Ontario and came west in 1903
and was employed on a surveying crew out of , Calgary surveying the Red Deer River.
He resided in Calgary and , Bassano before returning to Ontario in the fall of 1903. He moved back to Calgary in 1904 and was employed by the Western Irrigation District and later returned east in 1906 moved to Idaho and worked as a miner and forest ranger.
He moved to Lethbridge in 1908 and homesteaded at Coutts until homesteading north of Fort St. John in, 1931. He also worked as a grain buyer and built grain elevators in various locations. He moved to Millicent in 1937 where he farmed until retiring to Brooks in 1949 where he has resided since. Funeral service was held on Monday, June 7 at 2:00 . p.m., in Smith Memorial, Chapel with the Rev. C.W. Hutton officiating. Interment followed in Brooks Cemetery.
Pallbearers were John Bell, Roy Wright, Martin Nielson, Chris Bruun, Ron Wilkie and Elhart Petersen.
