CONNERS — Surrounded by his loving family, Wilfred Keith Conners spirit was released to his Heavenly Father. Wilf passed away peacefully in the arms of his wife on Monday, July 30th, 2001 at the age of 64 years after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Brooks on June 2nd, 1937, Wilf was raised in the Patricia area until his family moved to Devon. Wilf moved west to British Columbia and had worked as a Fireman for CPR in Kamloops. He received his Steam Engineers Ticket at the power plant in Wabamun. Wilt moved to Calgary in 1968 and was employed as Foreman at the Boardmill Plant for IKO Industries. He returned to Patricia to farm with his Uncle Ray and following Ray’s death in 1980, Wilf went back into the oil patch as a Power Tong Operator running his own successful business “Wilf‘s Power Tongs”. He was always very involved in his community and loved horses, rodeos, sports, hunting and fishing, cards and dancing.
He was predeceased by his parents Albert (Bert) and Rose, his brother Johnny, grandparents Jack and Ann Thomas and Addie and George Radcliffe and father-in-law Adam Schnell.
Wilf is survived by his beloved family, his wife Judy of Patricia; son Wade and his wife Kim of Calgary and their children Tammy and Cody; daughter Dallas and her husband David Magrum of Calgary; son Russell Middelhoek and his wife Samantha and their children Andrew, Bryce, Alyshia and Jenna of Taber; son David Middelhoek and his wife Vanessa and their daughter Jocelyn of Medicine Hat; his brother Lyle and his wife Theresa of Edmonton; sister Rose Marie Holmes of Edmonton; niece and nephews; Aunt Pearl Oaks of Brooks; Aunt Anne (Les) Bailly of Medicine Hat; Aunt Mabel LeBlanc of Medicine Hat; mother-in-law Joan Schnell and numerous cousins.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM on Friday, August 3rd, from Trinity Lutheran Church, Brooks. Rev. John Theiss officiating. Interment to follow at Brooks Cemetery.
