CORNELSEN – George A. Cornelsen  of Brooks, beloved husband of Marie  Cornelsen, passed away peacefully  in Brooks on January 15th, 2004 at  the age of 86 years. Born in Beaver  Flats, Saskatchewan on February  8th, 1917 George received all his  education there and later farmed with  his father. George and Marie were  married on August 4th, 1942 in Herbert,  Saskatchewan and resided in Main  Centre, Saskatchewan. They started  farming in the Brooks area in 1957  and moved into Brooks in 1963 where  they have resided since. George also  worked for the Brooks Horticultural  Centre and retired in 1983. He loved  his family, especially his grandchildren,  horses and visiting. George will be  remembered for his sense of humour.  He was predeceased by a son-in-law  Bud Sonnie and 5 sisters. George is survived by his loving family, wife Marie  of Brooks; 4 children, Ivan and his wife Marie of Drayton Valley, Eileen  Sonnie and her special friend Darrell St. John of Bassano, Peggie Mauch  and her husband Myrl of Duchess and Wayne and his wife Brenda of Brooks;  9 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; 2 brothers; 3 sisters and numerous  nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday,  January 20th from the Evangelical Free Church, Brooks. Rev. Don Gillett  officiated. Honorary Pallbearers were George’s granddaughters, Lesley  Cornelsen, Lauren Cornelsen and Tracy Mauch. Active Pallbearers were  George’s grandsons Mike Sonnie, Brian Sonnie, Justin Cornelson, Jesse  Cornelson, Shawn Mauch and Chad Sonnie.
