Crerar, Gertrude

CRERAR — Gertrude Eudora Crerar beloved wife of Mr. Donald Crerar of Brooks, Alberta passed away in the Brooks Health Centre, Brooks, on March  27th, 1991 at the age of 70 years.

She was born June 6th, 1920 at  Neidpath, Saskatchewan, moved to Regina and was married to Donald Crerar in Winnipeg, Manitoba on May 23rd, 1946. Gerti and Don lived in Boissvain, Manitoba and moved to Brooks, Alberta in 1956 where she resided until her passing.

She was awarded Citizen Of The Year by the Brooks and District Chamber of Commerce in 1985, was President of the Ladies Auxiliary, ElD Legion, secretary, Ladies Auxiliary, EID Legion and was also  a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary, EID Legion. She was a leader in the girl guides, and served as the District Commissioner, and was also president of the Brooks Further Education Board, president and secretary of the Brooks and District Museum, president of the United Church Women and taught Sunday School, president of the Ladies investment Club of Brooks, was active in many other charitable organizations and enjoyed curling and golf.

Besides her loving husband, Mrs. Crerar is survived by her children, Margaret and her husband Ken Ewing of Edmonton, Cathy and her husband Pat Garossino of Tulsa, Oklahom, Duncan and his wife Treena Crerar of Vermilion, Alberta and Ian and his wife Antonietta Crerar of Edmonton, also by six grandchildren, one brother David Ferguson of Toronto, Ontario, two sisters Frances Robbins of Falkland, B.C. and Miriam Kirk of Toronto, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial service was held at the Brooks United Church on Monday, April 1st at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. David Robertson and Rev. Susan Lukey officiating.
