de JONG – Theodorus (Ted) Wilhelmus de Jong of Brooks, Alberta died on April 30, 1992 at the age of 64 years.

He was born on December 1, 1927 in Nieuwerkerk· a/d Yssel, Netherlands and served in the Dutch Army in Indonesia from 1947 to 1950.

He married the former Anne Huysmans on February 9, 1954 and they immigrated to Canada two weeks later to the Twin Butte area. He worked at various locations in Southern Alberta before coming to Brooks in 1955. In 1959, he moved to the farm north of Brooks ..

Ted served as a delegate and director of .the Alpha Milk Company for 17 years. He loved his work on the farm and in the past few years enjoyed playing golf and travelling with his wife and friends and spending time with his grandchildren,

Surviving are his loving wife, Anne, three sons, John (Agnes), Brian (Terri) of Brooks, Tom (Patsy) of Camrose, three daughters, Marianne (Tak) Hirose of Picture Butte, Linda (Clarence) Feser, Annette and special friend, Mason Robertson of Brooks, 14 grandchildren, Kimiko, Stephen and Naomi Hirose; Scott, Stephanie, Mark, Sarah, Katie, Jeff, Jason, Brittnee, Meggen, Charmaine and Ryan de Jong, also two sisters, four brothers, numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews in Holland.

Prayer service was held on Sunday, May 3 at 7:30 p.m. at S1. Mary’s Catholic Church and Funeral mass was held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church on Monday, May 4 at 10:30 a.m. with the Reverend Keith Sorge celebrant. Interment followed in the Brooks Cemetery.

Honorary pallbearers were George Sweep, Jim Wortel, George van Gyssel, Bill Hulsman, Dan Silbernagel and. Paul Gelinas. Active pallbearers were George Rommens, Bert Rommens, Tony Rommens, John Van Uden, Fred Prins and Jack Peeters.

If friends desire memorial donations may be made to Someone Cares Crisis Pregnancy Centre or the Lethbridge and District Pro Life Association.
