Douglas – Charles Douglas of Brooks, Alberta, passed away October, 18th, 1192, in the Rocky View Hospital, Calgary, at the age of 86 years.

Born at Elora, Ontario, Charlie spent  most of his childhood in Ontario, moving West to Alberta in 1924. He purchased his first farm in 1931 east of Duchess moving to the Clancy district in 1945 where he farmed until retiring to Brooks in 1967.

Charles was predeceased by his beloved wife Alice in 1988, a grandson Todd in 1987, his sister Robina Foien in 1935, his mother Josephine in 1937 and his father Thomas in 1911.

He is survived by his loving children, Donna and her husband Don Farney of Calgary and Doral Douglas and his wife Ilene of Brooks; his granddaughters, Darcie Douglas of Calgary and Jodi and her husband Jeff Bradford of Brooks; his grandson Ben Douglas of Calgary; two great-granddaughters Jasmine and Jessi Bradford of Brooks; nieces Hazel Skaagen of Edmonton, Doris Skaagen of Alix, Shirley Wilcox of Elk Creek, Idaho and Lois Wickward of Silverton, Idaho; nephews, Norman Foien of Ontario, Donald and Edward Foien of Calgary and Gordon Turner of Osborne, Idaho; and many wonderful friends who he deeply treasured.

Funeral services will be held at Brooks United Church on Friday, October 23rd, at 2;00 p.m. with the Reverend David Robertson officiating. Interment to follow at Brooks Cemetery.

DOUGLAS – Alice Victoria Douglas of Brooks, Alberta died on July 29, 1988 in the Calgary General Hospital following a brief illness. She was 73 years of age.

She was bom on May 24,1915 at Maple Creek, Saskatchewan and attended the Oasis School at Richmound founded and named by her father.

She married Charles Edward Douglas in February, 1938 and they farmed in the Duchess district until 1947 when they moved to the Clancy district and came to Brooks in 1967 where she has resided since.

She was predeceased by her parents Anna and Wesley Covey, three brothers, Charles, Glenn and Wesley Covey, a sister Vivian Turner, granddaughter Glenda and grandson Todd.

Surviving are her husband Charles of Brooks, a son Doral Adrian and his wife !lene of Brooks, a daughter Donna Douglas (Farney) and her husband Donald Farney of Calgary, her grandchildren Jodi and Benjamin Douglas of Brooks and Darcie Douglas of Calgary, several nieces and nephews and an Aunt lda (Rowland) Preston of Medicine Hat.

Funeral service will be held on Wadnesday, August 3 (today) at Smith’s Memorial Chapel with the Reverend Charles Ramer officiating. Interment will follow in the Brooks Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Alan Tiegs, Dan Cozac, Don Anderberg, Leonard Rasmuson, Jack Bruce and Steve Beblow.
