DUERKSEN – A resident of this community over 29 years, Henry Jacob Duerksen died in Brooks Health Centre on March 9, 1980 at the age of 87.
Born November 28, 1892 in Russia, he was married there in 1922. They emigrated to Canada in 1927, living in various places in Manitoba and Alberta before coming to Brooks in 1951 and residing here since.
Mr. Duerksen was predeceased by two daughters, Lydia in infancy and Hilda at age 12, and his wife Margaret in 1979.
Surviving are three sons, Jake of Quesnel, B.C., Henry of St. Lambert, P.Q. and George of Saltcoats, Sask.; nine grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held Thursday, March 13 at three o’clock in the Evangelical Free Church, Brooks with the Rev. Allan Kleiwer officiating. Interment will follow in Brooks cemetery.
Pallbearers are Werner Barg, Ken Dafoe, Jake Kinast, Ralph Siemens, Harry Hamm and Henry Sawatzky.
