EDWARDS – A pioneer resident of the Patricia district, John Harry Edwards (Jack), died on July 10, 1982 at his Brooks residence at the age of 88 years.
He was born on February 13, 1894 at Nashua, New Hampshire, U.S.A., and later moved to Washington state and came to the Patricia district in 1921. He farmed there until moving to Brooks in 1939 where he farmed and operated an oil bulk plant and auctioneered. He later operated a real estate and general insurance agency for a number of years. He was also employed as a night clerk at the Newell Hotel, a steward for the Elks Club and worked for Joe Prins in his second hand store.
He was a life member of the Brooks Elks Lodge and an active member of the Brooks United Church and A.O.T.S. men’s club.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Helen Heinrichs in March 1978.
Surviving are his wife, Edith Pearl Edwards of Brooks; one daughter, Mrs. Doug (Penilla) Wheeler of Victoria, B.C.; two sons, Richard of Brooks and Roderick of Edmonton; 14 grandchildren and 14 great- grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 4, (today) at 2:00 p.m. in Brooks United Church with he Reverend Jim Hamilton officiating. Interment will follow in the Brooks Cemetery.
