EIDE: Marvel William Eide of Duchess, Alberta died on March 19, 1987 at the age of 68 years.
He was born at Millicent, Alberta on January 9,1919 and spent most of his life on the home ranch in the Imperial Colony district.
He attended school at Berry Creek and Brooks and served in the Canadian Armed Forces during the Second World War. Following his discharge he returned to the ranch.
He married the former Helen Becker in Hanna on August 3, 1944.
He was a 30 year member of the E.I.D. Branch, Royal Canadian Legion.
Surviving are his wife Helen of Imperial Colony, three sons, Marvel and his wife Hope of Calgary, Wayne of Red Deer and Garry and his wife Debbie of Taber, four daughters, Pat and her husband Heinz Wenner of Brooks, Barbara of Brooks, Donna Eide-Tannas and her husband Dewight of Water Valley, Alberta and Diane Elliot and her husband John of Medicine Hat, 15 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, a sister Rosie Greene of Redcliff and a niece Marlene.
Funeral service was held on Monday, March 23 at 2 p.m. in Brooks United Church with the Reverend Voline Conley officiating. Interment followed in the Brooks Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers were Russell Chapman, Dan Pierson, Ken McKnight, Lee Beasley, Jack Coates, Otto Wiesner, Jim Roads, Sieg Wetteskind, Neil McKinnon, Les Bailly and Ike Sunstrum. Active pallbearers were Carl Beasley, Ike Zeer, Bud Miller, John Ostafichuk, Jim Neely and Joe Stewart.
