ELSBETT – Victor Thomas Elsbett, beloved husband of Betty Elsbett of Duchess, passed away in Brooks at the age of 60 years.
Born in Brooks on November 28th, 1940, Vic grew up in the Patricia area. He married Elizabeth (Betty) Szostaczko of Tilley on April 11th, 1964 and farmed in Patricia. They moved to Duchess in 1997 and Vic had ‘been employed by Lakeside Farms until his untimely death. He loved farming and curling and had been very active in the Patricia community serving on many boards. He will be best remembered for always being a good neighbor and friend by lending a helping hand and equipment for anyone in need, friends or strangers.
Vic was predeceased by his sister Catheryn in 1963, his father Otto in 1982 and his mother Marie in 1990. Besides his loving wife Betty, Vic is also survived by his beloved children, daughter Karen Richardson and her husband Brad of Hanna and their children Kirsten and Kali; son Tom and his wife Susan of Tilley and their children Ashley and Brandon, son Brian and his wife Annemarie of Duchess and son Wayne of Red Deer; 3 brothers Bob (Clare) of Calgary, Bernie (Donna) of Brooks and Max (Linda) of Sechelt, BC and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and relatives.
Funeral Mass was celebrated at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, August 7th, from St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Brooks. The Very Reverend Bryan Frank Celebrant. Honorary Pallbearers were Karen Richardson, Brad Richardson, Susan Elsbett, Annemarie Peeters, Val Mrakava and Jill Mrakava. Active Pallbearers were Max Elsbett, Bernie Elsbett, Bob Elsbett, Tom Elsbett, Brian Elsbett and Wayne Elsbett. Interment followed at Brooks Cemetery.
