HANSEN – Edna Marion Hansen died in the Brooks Health Centre on July 22, 1990 at the age of 63 years.
She was born at Stettler, Alberta on December 31, 1926 and was raised on a farm near Hughenden, Alberta. After starting a career in nursing she met and married Ralph Hansen on January 19, 1946. They farmed near Duchess until moving to Brooks in 1981.
She worked as a cook at the B.A. Restaurant, Newell Hotel and the Crystal Cafe.
Due to poor health she moved to the Pioneer Villa in 1989 and to the Brooks Health Centre Auxiliary Wing in June of 1990.
She enjoyed playing crib and bingo. Surviving are her husband Ralph of Brooks, one son Ken and his wife Betty Hansen of Brooks, one daughter Jean and her husband Gordon Murphy of Red Deer, six grandchildren, Wendy Hansen of Vermilion, Craig Hansen of Williams Lake, B.C., Karry Hansen of Fort St. John, B.C., Kayleen Hansen of Brooks, Denell Murphy and Kimberley Murphy of Edmonton, two brothers Rick Sheen of Amish, Alberta and Peter Sheen of Hughenden, Alberta. four sisters, Joan (Dennis) Abbot of Fort Frances, Ontario, Muriell (David) Hood of Edmonton, Doreen (Nels) Heisler of Cadogan, Alberta, Shirley Serger of Hughenden, Alberta and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral service was held on Tuesday, July 24 at 2 p.m. in Smith Funeral Chapel with the Reverend Ken Grambo officiating. Interment followed in the Brooks Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Bill Hansen, Gordon Hansen, Bob Hansen, Fred Gardner, George Hoadley and Keith Lake.
