FERGUSON — Oliver Fredrick Edward (Slim) Ferguson, beloved husband of Donna Ferguson of Brooks, passed away in Brooks on May 4th, 2000 at the age of 78 years. Slim was born in Gleichen on September 15th, 1921 and later moved to Strathmore to begin his career as a mechanic at a local garage. Slim and Donna Conners were married on December 12th, 1940 in Gleichen. They moved to Cardston in 1950 and Slim worked with Indian Affairs in their repair shop. The family moved to Calgary in 1960 and they resided there until coming to Brooks. In Calgary he had worked on gravel crushers for Pioneer Machinery and as Service Manager at El Russ Equipment until retiring at the age of 65 years. Slim will be best remembered for the love he shared with his family and the joy he received spending time with them; for his love of people and for his hearty laugh. He was predeceased by sister Rita.
Besides his beloved wife of 59 years, Slim is also survived by his loving family, son Ken (Lorraine) of Brooks; daughters Bev (Herman) of Duncan, BC and Debbie (Paul) of Calgary; 8 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; sister Winnie Green of Calgary and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, May 9th from Smith Memorial Chapel, Brooks. Rev. George Edmonds officiated.
Pallbearers were his grandchildren Kenny Ferguson Jr., Cindy Ligins, Dean Assen, Keith Assen, Curtis Willard, Kevin Ferguson, Carla Willard and Chris Ferguson. Family graveside services followed at Brooks Cemetery.
