Fleming, Margaret Mary

FLEMING – Margaret Mary Fleming passed away in Brooks on January 8th, 1999 at the age of 75 years.

Born in Northwood, Ontario on April 12, 1923 she received all of her education in Kent Bridge, Ontario. After her schooling she worked for the Canadian Army in the munitions factory in Chatham, Ontario. Margaret married Raymond on October 26th, 1946 in Kent Bridge and came to Alberta in 1953 settling in Brooks in 1961. ­Margaret had worked as a cook at the Gulf and Esso Restaurants and later as housekeeper for the Tel Star Motor Inn retiring in 1984. She had been an active member of the T.O.P.S. Club. She entered the Newbrook Lodge in 1996 and the Brooks Health Centre РLong Term Care in 1997. Margaret loved her children and grandchildren, skating, travelling and especially driving back to Ontario to visit her family. She will be best remembered for her sense of humor and for her laugh.

She was predeceased by her husband Ray in 1989 and one grandson Adam in 1987. Margaret is survived by her loving family Cheryl Congram and her husband Brian of Calgary and their children Brianna (Brian) McRae and Brett; Connie Beringer and her husband Bob of Bassano and their children Melanie and Andrea; Cathy Bennington and her husband Rob of High River and their children David, James and Alison; Bill and his wife Anne of Calgary and their children Stacy (Jason) Smith and their children Liam and Aidan; Charlotte Hurst and her husband Sid of Brooks and their children Evan, Lydon and Grayson; Carla Guyot and her husband Rick of Brooks and their children Lindsay and Theron.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 12th from the Brooks United Church. Rev. George Edmonds officiated.

Pallbearers were Brian Congram, Bob Beringer, Rob Bennington, Anne Fleming, Sid Hurst and Rick Guyot. Interment followed at Brooks Cemetery.
