FORD – Elsie Ford a resident of the area for the past 77 years passed away in the Brooks Health Centre on May 6, 1988 at the age of 86 years.
She was born at Pierson, Manitoba on December 17, 1901 to Emmanuel and Veronika Klautt both of Roumania, Russia.
In 1910, she moved with her family to Hutton, Alberta where they homesteaded and farmed and moved to West Duchess in 1922.
She married Jess Ford on April 12, 1923 at Bassano, Alberta and they farmed north west of Duchess where Phyllis and Lloyd were born. In 1923 they moved to the Millicent district and farmed until retiring to Brooks in 1971.
She was predeceased by her husband Jess and a son Lloyd.
She has been a resident of the Pioneer Villa Court Two for the past six years.
Surviving are a daughter Phyllis (Steve) Rogers of Calgary, a daughter-in-law Dorothy Ford of Brooks, six grandchildren, Barb, Pattie and Sandy Rogers, David, Cheryl and Bruce Ford, three sisters, Luella (Cecil) Salser of Brooks, Lillian (Guy) Shough of Oregon, U.S.A. and Violet (Wayne) Fraser of Campbell River, B.C., and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral service was held on Monday, May 9 at 2 p.m. in Smith Memorial Chapel with Judi McCulloch D.M. officiating. Interment followed in the Brooks Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers were Evert Ohman, AI Pedersen, Tom Charlton, George Chartton, Harold Block and Art Green. Active pallbearers were Keith Henrickson, Clint Henrickson, Harold Carbert, Ralph Klautt, Scott Sewall and Chad Sewall.
