Galbraith – A resident of the irrigation community since he was a child, James Howard Galbraith died April 21, 1977 in Brooks General Hospital at the age of 60.
Born in Maple Creek, Sask., he moved to Duchess with his parents in 1923, attending school there. The family moved to Brooks in 1928 and he completed his schooling here.
Mr. Galbraith married the former Donell Tweed at Brooks in 1939 and two years later they moved to Strathmore and in 1945 to Calgary. They returned to Brooks in 1948 where he has resided since.
Together with his brother, Don, they formed Galbraith Cleaners and then Park Sales and Service, the latter which he owned and operated until 1975 when he retired.
Howard Galbraith was predeceased by his mother last year, and is survived by his wife Donell; two sons, Robert and James, one daughter Sheryl Galbraith, all of Brooks; his father, Charles and one brother, Donald, both of Brooks.
Funeral service was held Saturday, April 23 at 2:00 p.m. in Smith Memorial Chapel with the Rev. George G. Scott officiating; interment was in Brooks Cemetery.
Pallbearers were George Nelson, Stan Saunders, Ron Gartner, Don Kurtz, Gordon MacKenzie and Chuck Pozzo.
