GARROW – Beatrice E. Garrow of Calgary, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, February 4, 1999.
Bea was born in Duchess, Alberta on February 3,1919. She graduated from Calgary Normal School and completed three degrees at the University of Alberta. An energetic and dynamic teacher, she enjoyed a lifetime career teaching in several communities in Southern Alberta. Bea also worked as an X-ray technician in Arvida, Quebec and Montreal.
She is survived by three brothers and sisters-in-law, Kenneth (Dot) Adams of Calgary, Lawrence (Nancy) Adams of Duchess, and Richard (Gilda) Adams of Boston, Mass; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Helen Kraus of Duchess, Rosemaree (Norm) Holden of Calgary, and Marilyn Maier (Robert Wright) of Fort St. John, B.C.; as well as her sister-in-law Jess (Garrow) Manson of Vancouver. Bea is also survived by her nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and other extended family.
She was predeceased by her husband of forty-seven years, Dr. Pat Garrow in 1996; parents, Marcus and Rose Adams and sister, Jean Bruce. Her first husband, Flight Lieutenant Charles Fredrick Medhurst (RCAF) died in World War II. She was also predeceased by several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.
A memorial service will be held at the Edgemont Retirement Residence, (80 Edenwold Drive N.W., Calgary) on Thursday, February 11, 1999 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Ted Becker officiating. Graveside service to follow at Brooks Cemetery, Brooks, Alberta in the spring.
