GELLINGS – Bernard James Gellings of Brooks passed away peacefully in  Brooks on November 4th, 2001 at the age of 78 years.

Born in Bassano on May 13th, 1923 Bernie received his education in Rosemary. He farmed with his family in Rosemary until 1949 when they moved to Brooks. Bernie worked as the Singer sewing machine representative, as a truck driver with KeithLake and also a general laborer. He loved his family, fishing and fossil collecting.

Bernie was predeceased by his sister Agatha McClelland, brother Richard (Dick), and nephew Paul Gellings.

Bernie is survived by his loving family, sister Francis Benoit and her husband Noel of Vegreville; brother Leo and his wife Kathy of Lac La Biche; sister-in-law Lois Gellings of  Dawson Creek and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Mass was celebrated at 10:30 AM on Friday, November 9th from St. Mary‘s Catholic Church. The Very Reverend Bryan Frank Celebrant. Honorary Pallbearers were Francis Benoit, Leo Gellings, Kathy Gellings,  Brian Gellings, Sandra Mlenka, Theresa Sanya and Bob McClelland. Active Pallbearers were Bernie Benoit, Tony Gellings, Steve Sanya, Ray Blanchard, Jim McClelland and Dwayne Speir.

Interment followed at Brooks Cemetery. In memory of Bernie, if friends  desire, memorial tributes may be made to charity of choice. Arrangements  in care of Smith Funeral Home. Telephone 362-4636..
