GRAYSON – Margaret Emily Grayson, widow of the late Doug Grayson of Brooks, passed away in Brooks on November 6th, 2002 at the age of 93 years. Born in Rice, Washington on July 4th, 1909 the family came to Orion, which is 60 miles south of Medicine Hat, to take up a homestead. They moved to a farm in New Dayton in 1924. Margaret and Doug were married in Calgary in 1945, moving to Brooks in 1947 where Margaret had resided since. They owned and operated Brooks Tire Service for 22 years. Margaret will be lovingly remembered for her devotion to her family and for her independence. She was predeceased by Doug on June 15th,1983; her parents Charles and Lurana; 4 brothers Frank, George, Paul and Fred Wesley; sister Gladys Nottingham and two daughters Marion and Dorothy from a previous marriage. Margaret is survived by her loving family, daughter Lynda Cyr and her husband Dennis of Nobleford; grandchildren Wes Cyr and his wife Twyla of Nanton and Kelly Kohut and her husband Frank of Vulcan; 2 special great grandchildren Brayden and Jessica Kohut, sister-in-law Beth Wesley of Lethbridge and her special friend Shirley Heyler of Brooks. Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, November 12th from BrooksUnited Church. Rev. George Edmonds officiated. Pallbearers were Eugene Bushell, Garry Middlestead, Ian Thomson, Archie Rieger, Lewis Heyler and Ernie Nottingham. Interment followed at Brooks Cemetery.
