GREEN – A pioneer district resident, Arthur Green died on February 5, 1983 at the age of 96 years.
He was born at Thirsh of Yorkshire, England and grew up at Dalton.
He came to Canada in 1903 to Gainsborough, Saskatchewan and homesteaded at Lashburn, Saskatchewan. He married the former Martha Long in Winnipeg on January 1, 1910 and moved to Brook in 1919. He farmed at Millicent from 1921 to 1925 and moved to Duchess in the same year where he farmed until retiring in 1950. He has been a resident of the Newell Nursing home since 1972.
He was predeceased by by his wife in 1970.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Amy Lawrence of Calgary, Mrs. Dorothy Herron of Victoria, B.C., Mrs. Elsie Thacker 0f Calgary; four sons, Jim 0f Bentley, Gordon 0f Duchess, Donald of
Claresholm, Robert of Calgary; 22 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 9 (today) at 2 p.m. in Smith Memorial Chapel with the Reverend C Clarence Ramer officiating.
Interment will follow in the Brooks Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Ron Green, Jim Green, David Thacker, Brian Green, Warren Green and Harley Green.
