Green, Joseph Gordon

GREEN – Joseph Gordon Green, beloved husband of Helen Green, passed away in Brooks on June 7th, 1993 at the age of 70 years.

Born in Brooks on February 21st, 1923 and was raised in the Duchess area. He served overseas during the Second World War as a mechanic with the ACAF, 436 Sauadron based in Burma.

He married the former Helen Hansen on May 3rd, 1947;and raised their six children on their farm near Duchess. Gordon was a devoted dairyman until retiring to Brooks in 1989.

Gordon is also survived by his loving children, Ron (Laura Walker) Green of Sherwood Park, Penny (Jim Thacker) Green of Fairview, Virginia (Jack) Franklin of Brooks, Kathy (Dave) Scobie of Brooks and Ken Green of Prince Rupert, B.C.; grandchildren, Allen, Devin, Becky, Jeff, Stephanie, Tim, Denise, Garrett, Ricky and Corey; two sisters, Dorothy Herron and Elsie (John) Thacker; three brothers, Jim (Dot), Don (Shirley) and Bob (Doreen) and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his son Larry in 1977, his grandson Justin in 1992 and his sister Amy in 1993.

Funeral services were held at Smith’s Memorial Chapel, Brooks, Thursday, June 10th at 2:00 p.m. with Dr. Doug Evans officiating. Interment followed at the Brooks Cemetery.

Honorguard and Fraternal Services provided by members of EID Legion. Pallbearers were Ben Waldner, Jack Peeters, Marinus Jacobsen, Mark Jacob­sen, Allen Green and Nick Salonka.
