Greenwood, H. Frederick

GREENWOOD – Harold Frederick Greenwood, beloved husband oi Marilyn Greenwood, passed away in Brooks on December 29th, 1999 at the age oi 70 years.

Born in Bassano on July 10th, 1929 Fred received all his education in Bassano and later worked as a ranch hand, mechanic and tor the E.l.D. Fred married Marilyn Ann Hyrve on November 6th, 1955 in Bassano and resided there until 1967 when they moved to Brooks. In 1970 Fred opened Fred’s Electric Motors in Brooks which he ran until 1995. He and Marilyn moved to Cassils in 1985 to start a hobby farm which Fred loved until they retired to Brooks in 1998 where they have resided since. He was a member of the Brooks Elks, The Brooks Reserve Army and Fred also coached minor hockey. Fred loved his family, farming, hockey and people. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, sense of fairness and generosity and for his trust in people.

He was predeceased by one grandson Alec Greenwood in 1995; sister Kay Gosling, Whitehead in 1996; brothers-in~law Jerry Kendal in 1998 and Sid Gosling in 1963. Fred is also survived by his loving family, daughter Peggy Springer and her husband Larry of Brooks and their children Dawn (Shaun) Walliser and Cory; son Tom and his wife Betty of Brooks and their son Chad; son Dennis and his wife Dawn of Duchess and their children Paul, Katie and Kimberly; daughter Deanna Lakusta and her husband Larry of Medicine Hat and their daughter Christy; son David and his wife Sharon of Lumby, B.C. and their children Sarah, Ashley and Melissa; 2 brothers Vic (Yvonne) of Calgary and Leonard (Marion) of Vancouver; 3 sisters Elsie Kendal of Chilliwack, Luella Gosling of Bassano and Cheryl Robertson (Brian) of Calgary and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 7th from Smith Memorial Chapel. Rev. Fiona Wilkinson officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be all of Fred’s many friends. Interment to follow in the Brooks Cemetery. In memory of Fred, if friends desire,  memorial tributes may be made to the charity of one‘s choice. Arrangements in care of Smith Funeral Horne.
