GROSFIELD – Alta Catherine Sophia Grosfield died on March 7, 1993 in the Brooks Health Centre Auxiliary Wing at the age of 94 years.
She was born at Fairview, Kansas, U.S.A. and taught school for three years at Everett, Kansas.
She married on December 15, 1920 at Fairview, Kansas coming to Canada in January, 1921 to the Duchess area and with her husband farmed until she moved to Brooks in 1957 where she had resided since.
She had been a member of the Clancy Ladies Club, the Duchess United Church and later the Brooks United Church, the UCW of both churches and in earlier years was very active in the Clancy Lutheran Church.
She was predeceased by her husband Gabriel on November 17, 1953 and a grandson Eric James Grosfield in November, 1962.
Surviving are a daughter, Maxine Charlton of Duchess, four sons Herman (Orelee) of Brooks, Don (Elsie) of Brooks, Raymond (Arlene) of Brooks and Carl (Grace) of Vegreville, 19 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Vera Gildhouse and Irma Brockhoff both of Fairview, Kansas, a sister-in-law, Edna Gildhouse of Hiawatha, Kansas and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 11 at 2 p.m. in the Brooks United Church with the Reverend Susan Lukey officiating. Interment will follow in the Brooks Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers are Clarence and Mildred Seitz, Carl Anderson, Lester Hansen and Ada Schindeler.
Active pallbearers are Roy Grosfield, Andrew Grosfield, Glen Grosfield, Earl Grosfield, Grant Jensen and John Descoteau.
