JACKSON – Martha Dorothy (Huber) Jackson of Brooks, Alberta died at Brooks, Alberta on June 23, 1991 at the age of 77 years.
She was born at Sandy Point, Alberta on December 23, 1913 the daughter of Andrew and Christina Huber who had recently immigrated from Dusseldorf, Russia.
Martha had the love of a large family and following the death of her husbands she worked at various places in the community including the Newell Hotel, Imperial Inn, Tel Star where she worked as a cook and later worked at Newbrook Lodge and for the Brooks School District as a custodian.
Following her retirement she moved into the Pioneer Villa where she spent many enjoyable years with her many friends.
She was predeceased by her second husband Victor Grant Jackson in February 1956, sisters, Emma Stolz, Lydia Papp and Margaret Paige, brothers, Fred and Albert Huber, a son Alvin Bender on June 15, 1990 and a grandson Tim Fetherston.
Surviving are her children Alice (Bill) Fetherston of Victoria, B.C., Shirley (Jim) Draper of Victoria, B.C. and Marlene (Russell) McCharles of Brooks, Gordon (Raimunda) Jackson of High River and Ron Jackson Boswell, N. Mexico, U.S.A., two sisters Bertha Hay of Medicine Hat, Irene Fetherston of Calgary and Frieda Devaney of Calgary, a brother Bill Huber of Medicine Hat, 11 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 27 at 2 p.m. in Smith Memorial Chapel with the Reverend David Asher officiating. Interment will follow in the Brooks Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers are Marg and Chuck Hale, Dorothy and Ron Walker, Elfie and Johnny Creybohm, Violet and Harry Renn, Bertha and Ed Bentz and Jenny and Fred Gratrix. Active pallbearers are Randy McCharles, Rodney McCharles, Russell McCharles, Jim Boyd and Tony Jackson.
