M O R I S H ITA – Norito (Norman) Morishita, beloved husband of Patricia Morishita, passed away on December 27th, 2000 in Brooks at the age of 85 years.
Born in Yamasuchli Japan on July 15th, 1915 Norman immigrated to Canada at the age of 17. He owned a 20-acre mixed farm in Coglan, BC and worked as a logger in Port Alice to help finance his farm. Norman and Patricia Tamura were married in Tashme, BC on March 26th, 1944 and resided in Oyama, BC before moving to Rosemary in 1950 where he had resided since. Norman loved his family, auctions, ﬁshing and curling. He will be remembered for his sense of humor.
Norman was predeceased by a son Larry on February 12th, 1967.
He is also survived by his loving family, children, Doug and his wife Winnie of Calgary, Norma Stang and her husband Joel of Calgary, Carol Nakamura and her husband Juzo of White Horse, Yukon, Patrick and his wife Judy of Rosemary and Terry of Rosemary; 12 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, December 30th, from the BrooksUnitedChurch. Rev. George Edmonds officiated.
Active pallbearers were Barry Morishita, Daryl Morishita, Brad Morishita, Gord Deblasio, Sonny Aimoto and Greg Fujimoto. Interment followed at Brooks Cemetery.
