THOMPSON — William Leonard  Thompson, beloved husband of  Linda Thompson of Lomond, passed away in Brooks on March 29th,  2002 at the age of 56 years. Born  in Vulcan on September 22nd, 1945  Bill grew up in the Lomond area and received his early schooling there. He attended the OldsCollege for 2 years, returned to Lomond to take  over the family farm in 1970 and had  farmed in the community since. Bill and Linda Kalo were married at the BrooksUnitedChurch on May 30th, 1975. He had worked at Bow Slope  in Brooks for the past 12 years. Bill was very involved in his community,  serving as President and Secretary of the Lions Club in Lomond, served on the Center Board for 9 years, served on the Lease Board for LonesomeLake and on the Junior B  Board. He loved sports of all kinds especially baseball which he played for a number of years. He was a faithful  Los Angeles Dodgers fan. Bill be best remembered for his love for his family, dedicating many hours to his sons and their sports, for his booming voice  and outgoing personality, for his ease with people and his love to visit. He  was predeceased by a nephew Kevin Kalo on January 27th, 1994. Bill is  survived by his loving family, wife Linda; sons Robert of Red Deer, Jason of Duchess and Ryan (Gwen) of Duchess; grandsons Jaxon and Charles and their mother Mary of Red Deer; parents Arline and Henry Thompson of  Brooks; sister Susan Hodgson and her husband Bob of Duchess and their daughters Shelley (Darren) Vikedal, Lindsay and Robbie all of Duchess and  numerous other family members. Family services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, April 3rd from LomondBethanyLutheranChurch. Rev. Ed Summers officiated. Honorary Pallbearers are Frank and Lillian Milos,  Russ and Mildred Honess and Oliver and Doreen Hart. Active Pallbearers are David Sande, Pat Honess, Robert Smorong, Roy Boyd, Bill Chambers  and Lyle Wiltshire. Interment will follow at 3:00 PM at Brooks Cemetery. In memory of Bill, if friends desire, memorial tributes may be made to either Lomond Bethany Lutheran Church, Box 66, Lomond TOL 1L0 or Brooks and  District Health Foundation for Palliative Care, Bag 300, Brooks T1R 1B3.  Arrangements in care of Smith Funeral Home.
