Katherine (Katie) Beieler died on December 9. 1985 in the Edmonton General Hospital at the age of 79 years. She was born in the Ukraine and came to Canada in 1921 to Calgary and moved to the Imperial Colony in 1932. She married in 1943 and remained in the Brooks district until her husband Alfred passed away in 1967when she moved to Sherwood Park to reside with her son. Surviving are her son Steve and his wife Phyllis of Sherwood Park: three grandchildren, Cari and Raymond, Craig and Darla and Carleen and Rick: and a brother Steve Yewchuk and his wife Mary of Brooks. Funeral mass was held on Saturday December 14 at 2 p.m. in St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father James Lynn officiating. Interment followed in the Brooks Cemetery. Honorary pallbearer was Myles Yewchuk. Active pallbearers were Craig Beieler, Raymond Vogan, Richard Potter, Steve Yewchuk, Robert Yewchuk, Ronald Yewchuk. If friends desire memorial donations may he made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Smith Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Surviving are her son Steve: three grandchildren: and a brother Stever Yewchuk of Brooks. Prayer service was held on Tuesday. November 26 in Smith Memorial Chapel at 7 p.m. and funeral mass was celebrated on Wednesday. November 27 at 10:30 a.m. with James Lynn as celebrant. Interment followed in Brooks cemetery. Pallbearers were James Baksa, Robbie Baksa, Joe Hajash Jr. and Nick Trembecky. If friends desire memorial donations may be made to the charity of their choice.
