Pearce, Orlin Graham

PEARCE – Orlin Graham Pearce of Hanna passed away at the Rockyview Hospital in Calgary on August 8 at the age of 77.

Orlin was born in Calgary, July 13, 1921 and spent all of his life farming and ranching southeast of Sunnynook, Alberta in the Square Deal district. He attended school at the now defunct schools of Silver Leaf and Square Deal. He also attended the Olds School of Agriculture in 1937/38. In 1956 he purchased the land, homesteaded by his father in 1910, continuing the farm/ranch, with some expansion of the holdings. He enjoyed the country life and was always a rancher at heart looking after his livestock with conscientious and meticulous care. In 1991 he sold the ranch and in 1993 moved to a small parcel of land near Hanna where he and his wife Margaret developed a new home.

Orlin was predeceased in 1996 by his loving wife of 33 years, Margaret (Lewis) and earlier by his parents J. Milton Pearce and Eva Belle (Graham) Pearce.

He will be sadly missed by son Darrell and his wife Andree, by granddaughter Danielle and grandson Graham, by daughter Marilyn Davis and her husband Ken, by brother Leo and his wife Margaret, nephew Douglas (Sharon) Pearce, niece Brenda (Bruce) Watson, niece Patricia (Patrick) Farley and seven grand-nieces and nephews.

A Service of Remembrance will be held at the Youngstown Full Gospel Church in Youngstown, Alberta on Wednesday, August 12 at 1:00 p.m. Cremation. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made to S.T.A.R.S., the Canadian Cancer Society, or the charity of their choice.

Orlin’s family wish to acknowledge and give sincere thanks to the dedicated and caring help received by Orlin from the Doctors and Nursing Staff of the Hanna District Health Services, and of Unit 73 in the Rockyview Hospital.
