PELCHAT Louis Pelchat of Medicine Hat, Alberta died on October 22, 1985 at the age of 99 years.
He was born on September 25. 1894 at Dunrea, Manitoba and later homesteaded at Ponteix, Saskatchewan.
He married the former Aurore Bonneville on January 18, 1916 and farmed at Fairholme and Guernsey, Saskatchewan before moving to Alberta in 1939. He farmed at Rolling Hills until 1957 and retired to Medicine Hat.
He has been a resident of St. Joseph’s Home since 1970.
He was predeceased by his eldest son Onil Pelchat in 1974, one daughter Cecile Bonneville in 1975 and a son-in-law Alex Sereda in 1969.
Surviving are his wife Aurore of Medicine Hat; four sons, Jerry (Ingrid) Pelchat of Brooks, Herve Pelchat of Winnipeg, Paul Pelchat of Halifax and Emile (Joyce) Pelchat of Medicine Hat; five daughters. Jeannette Sereda of Rolling Hills, Therese Johnson of Kelowna, Noella Hillerud of Brooks, Gay Pelchat of Medicine Hat and Lil (Peter) Barth of Medicine Hat; a daughter-in-law, Mae Pelchat of Bassano; and a son-in-law, Ernest Bonneville of North Battleford; 40 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral service was held in St. Patrick ‘s Catholic Church in Medicine Hat on Friday, October 25 at 10:30 a.m. with the Reverend Fr. W, Krewski officiating. Interment followed in the family plot at Hillside Cemetery.
